Hi All,

I'm using Ubuntu 8.10. When I install a large application (for instance openarena), the following happens:
1)synaptic locks the database
2)openarena is downloaded
3)openarena is installed
4)the database is unlocked.

I would like to be able to install a small program while openarena is downloaded. This is impossible, the database is locked. i think it would be better is the sequence goes like this:
1)openarena is downloaded
2)synaptic locks the database
3)openarena is installed
4)the database is unlocked.

The second problem is related. When I install something with a lot of dependencies, everything is first downloaded, and then installed in one go. I think it would be nice if a package is installed directly after it's downloaded.

What are your thoughts on the subject?

Best regards,
Cedric
