Greetings,

If I am reading things correctly, the final stable release of KDE 4.2 came out recently, can anyone point me to an easy to follow set of instructions for installing it on Ubuntu 8.10? I would like to retain Gnome, and be able to choose between the two is that possible?

Thanks!

Check this link out. It has complete instructions!

http://www.kubuntu.org/news/kde-4.2

Hope that helps!

Yes choosing between the two is possible. They will come up as options in the Sessions menu in your GDM/KDM/whatever screen.

Did that yesterday, but 4.1 was installed. I'm not sure if I haven't done anything stupid. Will check that.

OK. I've reloaded repo list in synaptic and it upgrades are being downloaded.

Thanks.

I had installed kde 4.2-nightly from the neon rep's.
I removed the kde 4.2-nightly package a couple of weeks ago; obviously there's still some packages installed.
I followed the instructions on the kubuntu site, which simply updated what kde 4.2 beta packages I still had.
I don't see 4.2 in the list of sessions on GDM.
What meta package do I install to get all of 4.2?
This is on Ubuntu 8.1 as well.
