when i try to install, runs through everything perfectly but gets stuck at the "scanning mirror 82%" stage. is there any way i can do an offline install or something so it doesn't try to reach the mirror?

or better yet, does anybody know why it's doing this? apt works from the liveCD, i was able to install VLC. and networking is fine, i was browsing the web with no problem from liveCD. and this computer has had ubuntu installed on it before with no problems.

this problem happens for me both in the installer from the livecd desktop and the "install ubuntu" option from the main menu.

Try disconnecting your machine from the net before starting the install.
What version are you trying to install?

Same here, hanged at scanning the mirror.
Did you solve this?

I'm installing xubuntu 9.04.

I'm installing Jaunty right now; it was stuck at "scanning the mirror" for about 10 minutes but just suddenly went through without me doing anything. Keep trying maybe?
