Friends:

I am getting this error message each time I use Update Manager.

Failed to fetch http://ftp.debian.org/dists/etch/Release Unable to find expected entry commercial/binary-i386/Packages in Meta-index file (malformed Release file?)

Does anyone have advice on how to resolve it?

I'm using 8.10 Intrepid.

Thanks.

Can you post your sources.list please.
Open a terminal (applications>Accessories>Terminal)
then post the output to

cat /etc/apt/sources.list

This is the line causing the problem

deb http://ftp.debian.org (http://ftp.debian.org/) etch commercial
I would suggest removing it from your sources.list or fixing it to the correct repository. I am not sure what the correct one is, so recheck the website or where ever you got it from.
To remove it or disable it you can open Software Sources (System>Admin>Software Sources) and on the "Third Party Software" untick the box next to it to disable or highlight and remove.

Thanks Partyboi2. Removing that site from my list solved the problem.:D
