8.1 upgrade took my drivers

Now Compaq Netelligent network card
and ALSA audio non-functional.

Worked fine on 7.1

Anyway to retrieve from 7.1 CD?
I'd hate to give up and go back on 7.1

What did you do here. upgrade from 7.10 to 9.10?

I never go through the upgrade path. If you read any forum posts at all, you'll see that a large percentage are related to upgrading. - especially to 8.10! And they all say the same thing - "I lost my drivers".
