Ok, 1st things 1st. I'm new I'm green and quite possibly being stupid.
This is my 2nd attempt at Ybuntu 8.10 installation and now I LOVE it :p but;
my 1st attempt went well until i installed this automatically recommended update from update manager
Alsa-Utils
Version 1.0.17-0ubuntu3:
* debian/init: Set PULSE_INTERNAL=0 to prevent PulseAudio from
being inspected for invocations of alsactl and amixer. Fixes
hangs attempting to (re)store mixer element values as
reported in LP: #274995.
Following the installation my sound did not work anymore. I've set my laptop up so nicely now I am reluctant to re-try this update, unless I can revert to my current setting.
I know there must be a simple way, and I can just probably save a file or something?
Can anyone help me please.
