Hi there

I would like to install the KDE desktop environment (4.2) as well along my current gnome one on Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid 32 bit edition.

What are the steps to do so? Is it added in the repositories, if so what command should I type to get it?

It is as simple as
sudo aptitude install kubuntu-desktop, however KDE 4.2 isn't available yet, it is still 4.1 as of Kubuntu 8.10, or Ubuntu 8.10. Follow the instructions at http://www.kubuntu.com (http://www.kubuntu.com/).

Thank God for smart people!

Will they be adding 4.2 to the repositories though? I wonder what new features 4.2 has in comparison to 4.1 Thanks though :)

well for those who want it:
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/kubuntu-experimental/ubuntu intrepid main

No need for Jaunty, works fine for me.
Its still not 100% where I need it but its getting very close.

In the community cafe there is a KDE4.2 post, and it sounds like after a few days most people think that ubuntu packages will be created, so in short: I think it will be updated in the repos soon.
