I know there's just some little tip I don't know here... but I have some "empty space" in my upper-right hand gnome panel. My wireless (network-applet) and Google Desktop are up there, then some space, then two icons I can readily move (tomboy and the speaker).

The difference is that I can't right-click on network-applet or google desktop applet because they have their own right-click menus. So, how can I move them? I'm in standard Ubuntu/Gnome (Ibex) with Compiz enabled (and tweaked through CCSM).

And after reading the help I soon realized that if I clicked WAY at the top of the screen, I could get the context menu.

The tricky thing here is that those are not applets at all. They are simply icons inside the Notification Area-applet. So, move the Notification Area-applet itself (you can move it from the small handle on the left side of the applet).
