hi, this is my first post & I have to say that ubuntu and its community are great.

my windows software is keeping me from using ubuntu all the time, I sort of need a linux counterpart for circuitmaker, electronic workbench & mplab ide.

I tried some of the programs that are in the repositories but they lack some of the features I'm used to :???: .

which are your fav electronics programs?

thanx a lot for the link, there is a bunch of stuff there. most of the links are dead
most of the stuff for PICs works only for older 16FXXX, not much for the new stuff 18FXXX or 30FXXX guess I'll be using the other OS for the time being.
as for the circuit simulation stuff, there are bunch but most are quite expensive & probably really difficult to get a hold of.

if anyone knows & uses electronics software please share

take care

they have picp and picasm in the repositories i have never used under linux though. I use mplab under windows to program 16F*** microcontrollers. as for circuit simulation software i have yet to come across a really good one compared to the ones available under windows.

Yup.. currently trying to find a good simulator that can be compared to windows electronics software. Thats the main thing i will be using my pc for. Will try to find a available software that is suitable...

The search continues...:KS

Dont you have problems installing kicad? How did you it? I've installed it on an AMD64, so I need to tweak things a bit to call it through linux32, but buttons with picture icons are not showed :-(

now using eagle. Using its freeware version though. More stable and more libary file compare to the kicad. So think that this is better choice. Now just trying to find the perfect spice to use on. Still havent found 1.....

I'm stuck in my layout...

I'm making my own components, and started thinking:

Do I see the PCB-layout from the solder-side, or the component-side? - I may have mirrored alot of components :/

Any help?

daller have you tried eagle layout?

No, I haven't! - Eagle isn't completely free, is it?

And again, I've used a lot of time to get used to pcb...
