I have installed 8.10 (plus the kubuntu-desktop meta-package) and have 2 minor keyboard issues.

1. The end key is not recognized.

2. I like to assign an arbitrary F key (ex F21) to my windows start key using xmodmap. This works for other keys (media keys for example) but not for the windows key.

Thanks

Never mind... I think I have it figured out.

Seems like my keyboard is being auto-detected (improperly) by the 8.10. A new Xorg perhaps?

Anyways, I was using an old xmodmap file that doesn't work with this version of xorg, which is what was screwing up the end key.

If my keyboard (Logitech multimedia) was being detected properly, I wouldn't have to anything, but there are some problems. For example, 2 keys are sometimes assigned the same value (STOP and VOLUP are both detected as VOLUP). Anyways, I still need to clean it up with xmodmap.

EDIT: If someone knows how 8.10 / kde4 detects the keyboard, please let me know. I assumed that keyboard detection happens through xorg, but maybe some higher level stuff like media keys are handle through kde4 itself...?
