I used to install JeOS and use apt to build up only the bare essentials I needed/wanted on my laptop. Well from what I can tell, the 8.xx series of JeOS has been stripped for virtual environments only.

Can the current JeOS still be used for full system installs instead of just virtual system? or is there something similar still where I can do a system build from the CLI up?

Have you tried the mini.iso? It's available here:

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/MinimalCD

I used it to do a cli build. Here's the results:

Let me know if this answers your question.

I completely forgot about the Mini.iso. That is exactly what I needed. I looked at your build, I like it. I prefer Openbox, but I haven't given LXDE much usage even though I hear good things.

I have never used LXDE before this build, but it is quickly becoming one of my favorites. I'm glad I helped you out. Post some screenies when you get it done. ;)
