I have a misbehaving system:
It installs but doesn't configure kernels
Some programs fail pathetically (Kompozer blows up on add link [trying to call virtual function]) but most things run fine! No useful info in the logs. Upgrade from 8.04 to 8.10 was painful and I guess something got screwed - but what?
I've over 3000 packages installed and have a 512k line so I don't want to rebuild and fear that a backup/restore will put me back where I am.
I've tried apt_get justabout everything.
Is there a sanity check or apt-get 'reinstall everything' type of thing I can run that will check things from top to bottom?
