ok so I finally upgrade from 7.04 to 7.10 over the weekend. Now I noticed no video files will play in totem or gxine or mplayer. Though avi files seem ok in mplayer. The error is that there isn't a plugin to handle the file. I was able to play most of the major video flies before the upgrade.

Thanks,

ok I got most things working. I went in and did a search for codecs in synaptic and installed some relating to xine. Totem and mplayer seem to working fine now. gxine works but just closes when I attempts to open avi files which I find weird since the codecs seemed to be for xine. So for the most part I can play most mpg avi,mov Though I haven't tried playing within firefox.
