Does anyone know of any software in Ubuntu that can help in the creation of ICS files (iCal format)
This could prove to be very handy to me.
Cheers

evolution / kontact / sunbird... they should all be able to export calendar stuff into iCal files.

Calendar applications like Mozilla Sunbird create .ics files which comply with the iCalendar standard.

But I'm not sure that these are compatible with Apple's iCal standard.

Many thanks for the replies.
I normally use Thunderbird for my email, but I will try out Sunbird & see if it does what I want.
Cheers

You can carry on using Thunderbird as Sunbird is a dedicated Calendar application. An alternative is to use the Lightning extension to Thunderbird which is an integrated light-weight version of Sunbird.

Got Sunbird installed & it exports to the ics files as I wanted.
I basically want an ICS file to import in to Rainlendar, which is a desktop events & tasks calendar that I use. Having sun bird to create a calendar file is great.
I tried it & it imports to Rainlendar.
Thanks again.
