EDID problems

Hi, I just installed Ubuntu 8.10, installed the updates, and rewrote the xorg.conf. Everything seems to work fine, but there are some warnings in the Xorg.0.log that says that, "The EDID read for display device CRT-0 is invalid," and,"Unable to get display device CRT-0's EDID; cannot compute DPI." The current DPI is set to 75 and I would like to set it to 120.

I don't know what to do about the EDID, and I can't understand anything that I have read about it on the net. Can someone tell me in plain English what to do?

OK, let me kick this off. My dpi was stuck on 75x75, so I added the last two lines to the Monitor Section of xorg.conf:

My dpi is now set to 120x120. But I still have the original problem with my EDID. Any suggestions?

OK. I installed ddcprobe and was able to bet this information:

Is this the file I need to establish the EEIE? If so, how do I put this into my xorg.conf?

You know, it seems to me that if the Ubuntu developers had inlcuded this package in the install they could have configured the xorg.conf!
