Dealing with a webcam in C

does anybody have any idea how to capture images via a webcam? and i need to do it in c. thanks.

thanks angustia. i'm checking it out now, but it seems that it is intended for development and testing only (no error handling). do you (or anybody else) know another way? V4L2 seems promising, but i am completely new to webcams so any help would be really appreciated.
