Hello guys, could portable application(wind*ws) run in ubuntu 8.10? It is use wine or not? i heard super ubuntu can ran it, what software it is? thx

i don't think portable apps can run on ubuntu natively. you can try them out with wine.

java programs can run on both windows and ubuntu.

most portable apps are native in ubuntu. but if you want the actual portable issue, then install ubuntu on a usb. super complete!

i still have the whole windows portable apps on a stick which i use at work on xp

Not without wine.

Not that you need them, since Ubuntu comes installed with Pidgin and OpenOffice. You can also easily install 7zip and other things that come for portable apps even into a liveCD of Ubuntu.
