In Windows 98se, and a little in Windows 2000, I found "macromedia shockwave" to be what was causing 99% of the lockups.. so I boycotted everything "macromedia", to save me the grief...
It seems macromedia stuff isn't bad, is just too-powerful software for the antique OS's...

Does macromedia stuff do anything bad in Ubuntu-804..?

Well shockwave doesnt work by default in ubuntu as it was never ported to linux and by the looks of it shockwave is dead anyhow as flash took over for most of it.
I feel by next flash shockwave and traditional flash will be merged.

I don't think macromedia exists anymore... they got bought out in 2005.

Adobe Flash Player is pretty stable in my experience. There is no Shockwave Player.
