Upgrade killed permission?

Hi all,

Okay, I think the upgrade from 2.6.24-22-rt to 2.6.24.23-rt has killed my permissions somehow. I can't change authorisations, users and groups. External hard drives don't show anymore and generally not fun.

Is this a known problem with .23 or is it something else? I haven't made any radical changes to this box as I need it to be stable right now. Xubuntu with Ubuntu Studio packages and rt (real time) kernel. Was working great before the upgrade.

I am getting desperate now and my eyes hurt from scouring the web .... :confused:
