Months ago I tried installing .deb of realplayer (IIRC) but it didn't work. Now I tried installing handbrake to covert video to MP4 but I can't install it either.

Where's what I did:
1. Downloaded the .deb file into my Desktop
2. Double Clicked it
3. Clicked Install Package
4. Typed my password
5. Waited for a long time for it to install
6. Nothing in the menu

I tried installing Avidemux via Synaptic and it worked -- I can run it by clicking on it in the Multimedia menu. However, I can't seem to understand how to use the thing.

Please help. Thanks!

If you cannot understand how to use avidemux, read the manual.
