Update notification icon

I have an update that I do not want.

Now I have this pesky update icon constantly on the toolbar.

How do I get rid of it and only appear with new updates?

Go into Synaptic pkg manager and 'lock' the current version (Package>'Lock Version')

Does that just eliminate the update I don't want to install?

I would still like to be notified of other updates.

yes, only that pkg--just select it, then lock it. You'll still be notified of all other updates.
