Hello!
My main computer died, so I'm using an old one with 160 gig drive, but only 300mhz processor.(AMD-K6 3-D processor, 300mhz, 384mb ram).
Since this isn't blazing fast, I tried a xubuntu install of Hardy. It goes okay until it reaches the detect disks part, then says it can't detect a disk. A screen asks for a driver, but none of the ide choices work, wd7000 (it'a a western digital), no scsi except scsi-debug, and then it claims the hard drive is only 8mb, not 160gb.
A minimal install fares little better. I get this error message: download installer components libcrypto0.9.8-deb.
Right now I'm running Simplymepis 6, which had no probelm installing, other than taking hours to do so. I'm running afterstep since it's a bit faster than kde.
I want to use openbox and pcmanfm-my 2 favorite pieces of software. Any ideas on getting the minimal install especially to work? (I'll settle for hardy xubuntu otherwise).
Thanks in advance!!
