Won't install?

Hi there. I'm trying to boot Ubuntu from a burnt CD onto my other computer. It's an old HP with 3.4ghz, 3GB RAM, and 250GB hd. Right now I'm stuck at a black screen with white writing. It has a repeating number on the left side of "[407.517005]" and at the bottom it says "[end trace b68f37bd1e6d4526]". What seems to be the problem?

Does the CD pass the self-test? If not, try burning another one at a lower speed.

The CD is fine. I used the same CD on my other computer, which is running Vista, and it worked fine. But, for some reason it's just not working on the XP computer...
