View Full Version : Got stuck with setting up Mythbuntu

January 24th, 2009, 07:53 PM
Hello out there,

I'm not making progress in setting up my mythbox. PLease do help me :-)

My Box: P4-2.8GHz, 1GB Ram, 80GB HDD, Geforce FX5500 and a Hauppauge HVR-1300.

I am using the 8.10 release and got stuck in getting my tuner card to work.
Has anyone already installed one of those cards wh could help?

The Problem: Using the card as an MPEG II Encoder Card I don't even have the option of scanning for channels. Using it as an analoge device I can search for channels and it finds several, but on all stations when i watch live tv the same program comes up. ANd another problem, the sound doesn't work. It works while replaying a dvd but not if I want to listen to a stream or watch live tv.
Do you think I should give up on setting the hvr-1300 up and choose another one?
Tell me want you need to help me, I'll send you logfiles etc..

Thank you in advance!!

Cheers Torsten

I don't know the level of support for that card in linux, but have you tried setting it up as a DVB card?

Are you using an antenna or cable? are you going though any sort of cable or satellite box?

Please include your logfile from /var/log/mythtv/mythbackend.log

did you figure out how to get the mpeg2 encoder setup as a device in mythbuntu?

I just cannot get it available as a source or input.
