in Nautilus statusbar, how do you get it to show, how big the folder is, instead of showing, total space left on drive, witch is completely useless.
without pressing ctrl+a
eg i'm in a folder, it says 3 items, 98.5 gigs left
but what i really want to know is how much are those 3 files taking up. folder size.
Thanks.

Simply select the files and you'll get that info.

um, yeah i asked, without selecting the files
or pressing ctrl+a
i don't need to know the free space on the drive, only
how much space the files inside the folder are taking up.
mod / plugin?

Well, it'll be nice to have that info but BESIDE the infos already provided. I don't think the current infos are so useless though. I'm not sure if Nautilus has the ability for that, but 'till you find the answer, you can give a try to baobab (http://www.marzocca.net/linux/baobab/). Maybe you'll find it useful (it even has graphical representation and percentage which is nice feature).
EDIT: It's part of the gnome-utils package. Available from repos.
