New Install

I have a Satelite S1000, Ubuntu 8.10 , it has a 14GB HDD and 512mb , After the machine tells you to restart and eject the cd. the machine boots, play welcome sounds, an orange screen, (before hand asking for your username and password) and just hangs for ages and does nothing, any ideas ?

then i suggest trying the little mouse (xubuntu) it is less demanding on your machine

Worked but I cant get a driver for my network card I need to install wine if possible
