Slashdot is much more Linux friendly, and intelligent too (not saying those two are related :p).

Digg stopped being worth taking seriously the day it moved to a general news format and the level of intelligence of it's users dropped dramatically. It's disturbing to think Digg was born from criticisms of the far more sane slashdot.

Digg has It's moments. I'm more of a slashdot person though.

Digg is for general news while Slashdot is pretty much science and technology exclusive. I don't see how the two can be compared. Unless you wanted to compare the technology and science sections of Digg to Slashdot.

We're comparing their membership. Since both sites rely on user-generated content, it's a fair comparison: only one of the mentioned sites routinely has conspiracy theories, weird tabloid articles and fringe political propaganda* on the front page. If we were to compare Digg to a dedicated, general news site (even a bad one), it still wouldn't pass muster.

*I swear to god, if I ever read another headline containing the words, "Ron", and, "Paul", I'm going to hurt someone.

At least Digg's userbase isn't as bad as Youtube's.

I actually Reddit more after checking them out. More "open" - in all senses. Discussions are more interesting too.

DIGG and Reddit -- Seriously what a big waste of time unless you like worthless propoganda pointed to by those that never leave their basement to socialize with anyone of the opposite sex!

So true - unfortunately it is a minefield for those of us who suffer from this affliction:
