Alright ... my story.
I have a laptop, and my previous OS crashed, and well I always wanted to go back to linux, and here i am.
after a few hours i got my HD format so its clean, and that is it, I am downloading ubuntu 8.10 right now. Do i just burn ubuntu to dvd and stick it in my laptop and turn it on????

Burn the .iso file as an IMAGE, not like a data CD/DVD, and boot from it. But yes, that's all there is to it.

You may have to go into your bios and tell your computer to boot from the CD/DVD drive first, but it may do this automatically if it doesn't find a bootable OS on the hard drive.

Also, the .iso image will fit on a single CD, no need to use a DVD.
