Hi, I met a very strange problem. I have Ubuntu 8.04 installed, a dual DVI port PNY GeForce 8600GT PCI Express x16 Video Card, and a SOYO 26 inch monitor.

Previously, since I did not have DVI cord, I used a DVI-VGA adapter to work in the VGA mode. The ubuntu worked very well. It automatically set up the configuration to 1920X1200 resolution.

However, today, I bought a DVI cord. But after I recongigured the Xserver in the recovery mode, the Ubuntu told me that it could not recognize the video card driver and can only work under low resolution.

When I restart and switch it back to VGA cord, it works again.

Has anyone met this problem before? Could you guys give me some hint?

Thanks a lot.

What video card do you have and what driver are you using?

The more information, the better.
