View Full Version : [ubuntu] Ubuntu install on linux netbook

I have a acer aspire 1 netbook running Linux that i bought recently and i want to install ubuntu 8.10 desktop edition. I have bought an external disk drive and it has come up with a load of files and i don't know what to do from here

I have tried re-booting to get to install screen which is what i did when i upgraded my other laptop to ubuntu but that doesn't work on my netbook

please can someone help!!!

Sorry if this comes a little late.

I recently installed ubuntu on a netbook (HP mini 2133). When I inserted the ubuntu installation CD I got a blank screen whenever I hit the "install ubuntu" on the main menu, but then I read somewhere (can't remember) that once you get to the menu screen you should hit the F6 key and then add "xforcevesa" (no quote marks) to the line you see at the bottom, you should have no probs installing.
