How to?

Very, very new to Ubuntu. Never really used Linux before and I just installed not 30 min. ago. I obviously don't know how to do much of anything and I want to know how to make my desktop "pretty" like ones I've seen here and elsewhere ie cube desktop, docks, themes, and overall appearance. I'm running 8.04 as for some reason couldn't load 8.10. Kept getting errors... Any and all help will be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks

Do a quick search and you'll find. You need to update your sources to get cairo-dock.
