View Full Version : Mythbuntu and Fancast

Is anyone working on integrating fancast (http://www.fanfast.com) into myth? I can't use the myth browser but I can close myth, open up firefox, and watch the tv shows in full screen (on my 96 in display :)) and the quality is pretty good.
Has anyone else tried this and how did you like it?
Does anyone know if there is anyone else interested in bringin this experience into mythbuntu?

I'm trying pretty hard yet coming up unsuccessful. Tell me, does fancast have anything that hulu doesn't? Mythvodka already does hulu, and could probably do fancast, but if it doesn't contain different stuff I don't see the point.

I've checked on the site and it is hard to find much other than what is on hulu. I googled the two names and cam across this description http://www.techcrunch.com/2008/01/08/comcast-launches-fancast-part-tv-guide-part-hulu/. Fancast is run by comcast and it seems like it should contain everything Hulu does and more. But for the most part what I watch on fancast has the hulu logo in the corner. I'll take a look at getting mythvodka up and running to see if it fits the bill. Are there any good tutorials for adding Mythvodka to Mythbuntu?

Fancast is indeed a Comcast property. Hulu is a joint venture between NBC and Fox. The differences in content has a lot to do with ownership and content licensing - which can get very complicated very quickly.
Both the Fancast and Hulu player are Flash-based, so Your Mileage May Vary...

The mythvodka plugin is evolving. You can add my PPA here https://edge.launchpad.net/~tgm4883/+archive/ppa and then just apt-get it, you might want to follow the thread here http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1006069 as the mythvodka developer has posted here and we are working on making this plugin better

I'm using mythvodka right now and I think it's going to be sweet once it gets a little more stable
