gnome vs kde program support

does ubuntu and kubuntu run all the same programs or do programs have to be coded seperately to run on ubuntu and kubuntu?

They can run between each other (cross compatible).

Ex: I run quantas

Its a KDE based app. As is k3b.

The only downside is that a kde program starts slowly because kdelibs needs
to load first.Evidently depending on the computer performance!
:(Oh and the interface of a kde 3.5 or 4 app can't be changed if kde settings or kcontrol isn't installed!There is Qt settings but it has fewer themes and ugly ones after my personal opinion!
