Help.

I just installed ubuntu but when I boot for the first time, after login, the screen is left with a cream color background. The mouse is moving but no keyboard response at all. No icon no nothing.

My computer is Celeron 1.8, 512M RAM, 40G HD, Intel graphics card. Definitely the hardware requirements are exceeded.

I got feed up with virus etc at Windows and want to try Linux. I choose ubuntu because it seems easy but apparently not so.

Any help is appreciated.

I solved the problem myself.

I installed Ubuntu using "safe graphic mode" (option F4 on the first screen menu. It works fine.

Good to hear, it was probably just an error with Xorg
