I sadly need to install windows xp, to make things clear i have a hard drive with tha forst partition as root it has about 10 gigs, then an empty partition where the windows is destined to be installed, and a 130 gig partition as home.
I know that if i install windows it will make my grub useless but i want to ask if i reinstall it with the ubuntu live cd will i be able to boot from xp also?

Yes - install xp then once you've finished insert the livecd, then you can reinstall grub http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=4542943&postcount=2

Once you've done that you can add xp to the menu list.

If you install windows after ubuntu is installed you can use the ubuntu live cd to restore grub. See this (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=224351)
