Hey. My computer is a Sony/Vaio laptop with windows home premium 64-bit. I'm trying to install the latest version of Ubuntu, 8.10, 64-bit on my laptop with the cd that I made. I had the computer boot off the cd and I told the Ubuntu to run without making any changes or installing so I could try it out. The screen with the orange bar went for a while, and then the computer went to a screen mostly white with some squiggly black lines. This screen slowly faded to black. After waiting a while, I decided to press the power button on my computer. Then it went back to the orange bar screen and asked me to remove the cd, close the tray, and then press enter. I did that. Next time I tried to just install Ubuntu. Same thing. By the way, I want to set it up to dual-boot with windows if you have any pointers. Thanks in advance.
