Ubuntu Duel Boot Using External! - Help

I am running the new MacBook Aluminum 5,1 and I was wondering if it is possible to still duel boot but run Ubuntu Linux on my 500GB External Hard Drive.

I don't want to use my internal because I want it to be for stuff I need on the go when I'm not carrying my external.
I don't have much space on it either so I don't wanna use it all up.

When you want to use linux simply enter the Bios at reboot and toggle the boot disk
