Hi, I have just installed ubuntu 8.10.

I think I messed up the initial keyboard configuration. Now I am not able to use type my quotation marks properly. All other keys seems ok..

I need to press 2 times before I get something and the quotes i get are not correct and they break the codes i make.

single quote:

double quote

Anyone can help me with this?
Thank you in advance

I am having this exact same problem after upgrading.

In addition to the quote marks, tilde ~ and carrot ^ do the same behaviour - they have to be typed twice to get them to show up. All other keys seem fine.

I have tried choosing several different keyboard layouts from the control panel but no change.

I have a Dell Latitude X1 laptop btw, in case that matters.

I fixed my problem by changing the layout from Intl with dead keys.

What did it for me was the line at the end pointing out that United Kingdom looks like a section heading but is also a choice.
