I note in several versions of slackware distros that the /etc/init.d directory and all the rc?.d directories are consolidated into a single rc.d directory.

There is a README mentioning something about Linux Standard Base compliance.

When I look that up, Ubuntu plays a big part in it.

Will the /etc/init.d directory consolidate into /etc/rc.d and simplify the init process (at least for me!)?
