Hello Fellow Enlightened Ones,

I have a problem or maybe not. A few months ago I made some home videos using a camera that used mini dvd-rw's as the storage medium. Due to the lack of time I only backed up the VOB files from the disks and erased them to reuse them again. At that time I thought it would be some way to convert these to some other usable format and if not mock up a dvd filesystem with these files in place and burn them onto regular dvds. I am actually having a lot of trouble finding an appropriate toolkit to either:

a) Let me convert these into some readable format playable in standard desktop applications.

b) A dvd authoring tool or tutorial to burn them manually onto a dvd player compatible filesystem.

Help regarding either or both would be appreciated.

VLC should be able to show VOBs... as should Totem, although you might need to install some extra codecs (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RestrictedFormats/PlayingDVDs).

If you don't have VLC, you can get it with:

sudo apt-get install vlc
