Hey,
I am trying to configure my system sound in Ubuntu 8.10. In the help section of the sound preferences, it says that I should click on "enable sound server startup". I do not see any "general" tab. Further, I have the sounds tab in which I have customised certain system sounds. I have also put a check mark on "enable sound events". Still I do not get any system sound?
What to do. I am using AMD x2 4000+, Nforce MB. The sound plays nice and fine for movies, music etc. I also get the login and logout sounds. But system sounds such as single click, warning etc. refuse to play. I tried changing the sound drivers for various effects too, e.g. a diff driver for sound effects and another for movies etc.
??
any clues?
Thx in advance
