So I tried using devede to create the iso file, and then used Brasero to burn it to disc. I guess dvd players cant play iso files, or just some? I have not found one program to use in Ubuntu (8.10) that has successfully burnt a dvd that is playable in my dvd player. Can anyone help?

Are you burning the image file as a filesystem, or as an archived .iso as data ?

this may seem like a stupid question, but i have to ask. what burn option are you using? are you burning as data or image?

Im starting to think I burned as an image, which I now assume is wrong? I didnt really see anywhere in Brasero to change that option, but I could have easily looked over it, as I was in a bit of a hurry. I dont have anymore blank DVD's, but when I do, I guess I should try this same scenario, but make sure its burning as data?
