Hello, its my first post here, although this forum has provided me with an awful lot of help over the last few months of being a Dell Inspiron (that's right my laptop came with linux) ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron user. Especially with regards to that sound bug everyone seems to get.

|EDIT - Sorry to waste time just found this http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=891932&highlight=remove+unwanted+language problem solved|

Problems :

The update manager is displaying 513 language packs for a total of 134 megabytes of things I'll never use. I found this thread - http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=703671 , but it looks like the solution won't help me much. Is there a way to tell it to remember not to show me these again? Or to uninstall all languages but English english and American english? I can't find anything through the updates GUI.

I'm not sure if its related but I've also recently been getting 'Could not download all repository indexes'. Apparantly this can be a delay in server updates - are other people getting it?

Thank you for your time, much appreciated.

- Jodie

I'm having the same issue. I would like to purge all of the language packs except for English and English variants, and deny language packs except for English to show up on the Update Manager.
