Here's something a forum user asked about, and I thought it better to post the answer here, as it's quite useful.

If you'd like to have the option to open a terminal in a specific directory when right-clicking in a folder in Nautilus (like in KDE), follow these steps:

Download the attached script I wrote Copy it to ~/.gnome2/nautilus-scripts Rename it to "Open Terminal Here" or whatever you like Make it executable by: chmod +x "Open Terminal Here"

Now whenever you right-click in a folder, choose Scripts -> Open Terminal Here

Enjoy!

Thanks.

You're welcome!

I have to tell you, though, that this script is now ancient (in Ubuntu terms).

I guess some people liked my idea and now we have a much more comprehensive (and multilingual) package that you can install more easily (e.g. via Synaptic). It's called:

nautilus-open-terminal

and in order to install it you must have the universe repository enabled in Software Sources.

I also use the nautilus-gksu package which allows one to open directories as administrator.
