I'm acutally Mac-User. But i would like to install Linux on a notebook due an extremly impressive Video on youtube.

Which version is this and what do i have to download / install to have this great looking GUI with all these effects ? (KDE, GNOME or whatelse?)

Next question: i would like to buy a cheap notebook via eBay. Are there any systemrequirements for this version of Ubuntu 8.10 ?

You're probably going to want to install version 8.10 which is the newest.
