Hi,
I recently installed Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid Ibex (on a Sony VAIO PCG-Z1RA notebook), and I connected my Logitech QuickCam Pro 5000 to it. It works fine with Ekiga - I can see myself fine. lsusb gives me this: Bus 001 Device 005: ID 046d:08ce Logitech, Inc. QuickCam Pro 5000 , so that looks good too.

But when I attempt to run Skype (or several other video programs), it doesn't recognize my webcam. Is it a skype problem, or do I need some more drivers? I've been searching around for a while now, but I haven't found anything that helps - any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Hi,

I am also experiencing the same issue. It seems there may be no answer for this one?

Anyone??

I like using webcamnow.com and the Logitech Pro 5000 just produces what looks like a split view (like someone crosseyed). I'd like to get this cam working in Ubuntu 8.10 but I'm not opposed to someone telling me exactly which webcam works out of the box for every application in Ubunutu.

BUMP!!!
