Problem with running Ubuntu from CD

When I choose to run Ubuntu off the CD it shows a progress bar and when that is done the screen starts to flicker, with random colors, and nothing is visible but random colors and squares. What can I do?

What's the spec of your machine especially the graphic card?

Intel IV 3.0Ghz Dual
1.5GB DDR3 RAM
80gb Hard Drive
Nvidia 6800GS

Edit: I can picture or take a video of what I am talking about, if it's hard to picture it.

At the initial menu from the CD, you can try to use the safe mode. That nvidia card should work since I have the same one and everything is working fine with my Acer 22" LCD.
