Hey guys,

I just installed and updated Ubuntu on one machine, and use it on this laptop. Ubuntu crashes while using Pidgin. This has started only recently after doing recommended updates.

The system crashes after minimizing a chat window in Pidgin. I'm not sure how this would cause a total crash, but nothing works and I have to force a reboot. Problem hasn't occurred since I've switched to kopete, but I like Pidgin too much to abandon it.

Anyone having similar problems?

Thanks!

Pidgin seems to work perfectly for me using Ubuntu 8.04...

Try going to www.getdeb.net and downloading the latest Pidgin, make sure it's the hardy version and not Ibex...

Uninstall your current Pidgin and install the new one data, libpurple and pidgin .debs in that order...
