python-xlib error after install

When I invoke Update Manager and it installs updates, I have been getting the following error message: "E:python-xlib: subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1"

If I dismiss the error dialogue and check for updates again, it appears no updates are available, i.e., that the original update went fine.

Does anyone know what this error is and how to eliminate it?

I have this exact error as well, although it showed up when trying to install AWN (avant-window-navigator). Trying to remove it, using any number of the force remove tricks, fails dismally.

Can anyone help?
