Hey guys,

I want to set up some nice Web Image Gallery of some parties from my friends and me. I searched a little in the web, but I didn't find an application, which is sufficient. What I need is a Web Gallery Generator, which generates Web Galleries, which doesn't require PHP or MySQL or whatever (just plain HTML !). Also I don't care weather it has a GUI or not.

I'm searching for an application similiar to Picasa2 (picasa.google.com) of Google, which is unfortunately only avaible on Windows.

I'd appreciate any recommandations,

regards Samir :D

I use gThumb (http://gthumb.sourceforge.net/) to create my gallerys. It's in the default Ubuntu installation.

Just select the folder of photos you want to use and go to "Tools > Create Web Album"

Here's am example of one of mine: http://www.barker1972.fsnet.co.uk/the_cramps

I already tried out the gThumb Web Gallery function some time ago, but I wasn't satisfied with gThumb back then, but your Web Gallery is really nice, so you convinced me a little ;)
Anyway, is there a way to set the resolution of the images (I don't mean the thumbs) ? I ask this, because the images have a bad quality.

I always resize and crop my images using Gimp first so that they are around 640x480 max size for the web page. Basically I don't use the gThumb resize function.

Hey, that's a good idea.

So how can I prevent gThumb from resizing the images ?

Here's another program that is very powerful. It's called "pgg" and you can find the latest version here:

http://www.icewalkers.com/Linux/Software/515160/Photo-Gallery-Generator.html

The info site is up, but the link to the download part is dead, so I put it on my site for those interested in trying it:

One of my example galleries that I built using pgg:

Heres the settings I use. Just make sure the "Resize if larger than..." box is not checked.

Personnally I like "Gallery".
It's a PHP program that allows you to upload pics to your server remotely, and add comments and stuff to your pictures....
This site was created with it:

Actually, I'm refering to images, which come up when I click on the thumbs, while you refer to the images, which come up when you click on the images, which came when you click on the thumbs.
Well, this sounds a little cofusing, but I hope you understand it anyway (sorry, my english isn't the best :(). So is it possible to set the size of the images I mean ?

Thanks for the tip, I just checked their website and this program doesn't seem bad either, though its results look very similiar to the ones of gThumb.

I believe that if all your wanting to do is resize all the pictures in a directory, you could just apt-get install imagemagic, and use the mogrify command.
Here is a step by step:

Yes I know what your saying:)

That annoys me a bit. I don't know of a way around that.

I use Simple Picture Gallery Manager - SPGM (spgm.sourceforge.net). You can see it in action from their website, or mine, which I've highly customized to fit the rest of my site: http://www.jessejoe.com/gallery

The Web Galleries created by SPGM look really awesome !
Too bad it needs PHP ;)

Unfortunately I don't have access to my computer during the weekend,
but I'll try all those applications, when come back :D
